About Pine Rivers RSL
The Pine Rivers District RSL Sub Branch was formed and received its charter The first President of the Sub Branch, Mr Tom Gorringe, a WWII veteran, met with 22 members in the School of Arts Hall at Petrie where they stayed until 1954. The opening and formation of the Pine, Petrie and District Sub Branch was made possible with the support of the Qld State Branch and Nundah, Northgate, and Toombul Sub Branch.

MEDIA RELEASE THE HON DAN TEHAN MP MINISTER FOR VETERANS’ AFFAIRS MINISTER ASSISTING THE PRIME MINISTER FOR THE CENTENARY OF ANZAC MINISTER FOR DEFENCE MATERIEL 20 March 2016 VETERANS PENSIONS SET TO INCREASE Veteran pension payments will increase in March in line with the biannual indexation process. Pension recipients including veterans, their partners, war widows and widowers across Australia will see the increase from 20 March 2016. Due to pension rates calculating on a daily basis, the first pension paid after the indexation on payday 31 March 2016 will comprise both the old and new rates. Australia Day Recognition! The start of a new year, and a good one for the Sub-Branch. Today, Australia Day 2016 the Pine Rivers RSL Sub-Branch was awarded an Australia Day Dickson Community Award by the Hon. Peter Dutton MP. This award is in recognition of all the effort and hard work all our volunteers do at the Sub-Branch throughout the year to help those who need our help. My congratulations each and every one of you, and thanks for your time and support.

With previous “caretakers” cutting corners to look after the Historic World War I memorial gates at the Pine Rivers Sub-Branch RSL, including the painting of the sandstone and rusted metal, it has taken grants provided by state and federal governments, to bring them back to their former glory. The gates, first dedicated after World War I, and originally located at the Lawnton showgrounds, were borne from the desire to remember those who did not come home. It was one of many erected around the country, built from donations from the public.
