RSL AUXILIARIES

The meaning of the word ’auxiliary’ is extra power or resource, and auxiliaries can be a significant resource to their Sub Branch.

An auxiliary is established to promote and further the Objects of the League within the jurisdiction of the Sub Branch.  It is controlled, assisted and guided in its activities by the Sub Branch, to support the social and welfare aspects of the Sub Branch.

Women’s Auxiliaries have been around since World War 1 when the women of Australia sewed, knitted and cooked to send parcels to the troops. When the boys came home, they continued their support.

Citizens’ Auxiliaries have now been in existence since 2000. It was realised that there were a lot of males who wanted to contribute to the RSL but were not eligible to join as RSL Members.

Pine Rivers RSL Sub Branch now has a Citizens’ Auxiliary open to any member of the community – male or female – who would like to support the work of the RSL through our Sub Branch

We would like to hear from interested members of the community, over the age of 18 years, who wish to support the work of the RSL in Kallangur.

Can you spare an hour or two each week or month?

Are you an experienced coordinator?

Have you retired from the workforce and are looking for voluntary work over flexible hours among our veterans?

Our Citizens Auxiliary offers membership to those in the community who respect and value the commitment of our veterans and current serving personnel.

Drop in to our office behind the Kallangur Memorial Bowls Club on Anzac Avenue, or contact us by phone on 3285 8022, between 9am and midday, Monday to Friday.

HISTORY OF OUR AUXILIARY

The Pine Rivers Women’s Auxiliary was formed in 1950.  In 2018 this auxiliary expanded to become a Citizens Auxiliary.  Members will be working with the sub branch to celebrate 70 years of auxiliary service to the sub branch in 2020.
